June 2021Getting to Know the Gutenberg
Posted: September, 17, 2026
The Gutenberg is one of our newer floor plans, and it's already become a favorite with nearly everyone who tours it. It's easy to see why – the vaulted ceiling of the great room makes gives you a feeling of light and openness that sets the tone for the rest of the home. Also, this is our most flexible home plan: you can have a minimal ranch-style home, or grow it up, down, or out (or all three!) to be exactly what you are looking for.
Gutenberg’s Unique Features
The Living Room:
Walk in and the first thing you notice is the living room. Vaulted ceilings and a dormer window let in extra light, giving the space an open, airy feel that most homes starting this size just don't have. The lovely visual clarity keeps people (who are like me, anyway) from getting stir crazy in the winter months.
The Loft:
A secondary unique feature comes into play when choosing to add the partial second story. In addition to getting another bathroom and 1-2 bedrooms, you have this charming area that can kind of look down to the living room. My mantra is: divide and conquer! The loft makes a great gathering/play area upstairs (and out of the way) while still feeling connected to the main level
Everything You Need, Nothing You Don't
At its core, the Gutenberg starts as a 2 or 3-bedroom home at just under 1,200 sq ft, making it one of the most affordable homes we offer. However, it’s a super flexible layout, blossoming to over 2,650 sq ft when maximizing the possible configurations. For example:
Want more room in the primary suite?
On the main level, you can trade a third bedroom for a larger, more luxurious primary suite where you gain additional closet space, a soaker tub, separate shower, and plenty of room to spread out. With this 2-bedroom layout, you'd still have a second bedroom on the main level with its own full bathroom as well as your laundry facilities.
Need more bedrooms above grade?
Add an upper level and you gain additional bedroom(s), another full bathroom, extra storage space, and either a loft or a family room.
How about a basement?
If your soil conditions allow, we can absolutely add an 8 or 9’ basement for another roughly1,200 sq ft to work with. This can be left unfinished for future growth, or we’re happy to finish it for you with 1-2 additional bedrooms, another bathroom, and/or a big secondary living room.
A Kitchen (and a Porch) for Every Budget
Are you a minimalist cook, a weekend warrior, or are your friends convinced you should open a restaurant? Personalize the Gutenberg’s kitchen to match your aspirations and. Don’t pay for more than you want or settle for less. Choose what floats your boat. FYI, when you choose the premium kitchen, you'll also pick up an extra 60 sq ft on the main level, plus another 60 square feet below if you’ve chosen to add a basement.
Out front, you have the same kind of choice: a large front porch that can play host to your seasonal décor and still have room for seating, or a simpler entryway, if that style suits you better.
The Details That Make it Livable (and Loveable!)
The Gutenberg is full of the little personalization options that help give it the homey feeling you’re hoping for and the utility you need it to serve. Our goal is to give you a delightful new home experience by offering enough choices, but not too many.
Who the Gutenberg is Right For
Because it can flex from a lean, mean, efficient one-level, 2 or 3 bedroom home, to a two-story-plus-basement 6 or 7 bedroom home, the Gutenberg is worth considering. Especially if you’re a sucker for light-filled open spaces. It’s got the ability to divide and conquer a herd of kids or be the quiet sanctuary you’re looking for. You get to make it your own.
