Setting Yourself Up for Success
As you look forward, what goals do you have? You've probably heard of SMART goals. You know, making sure your goals are "Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound"?
A handy little acronym, eh? But it's all too easy to feel tired just reading that list. Perhaps you feel like, "Maybe I'll just skip the New Year resolutions this time."? Do your SMART goals end up being made out of "Self-Doubt, Mockery, Anxiety, Regret & Tunnel-vision" instead?
As January slips into February, goals sometimes become a little less clear, with an abundance of negative self-talk.
Here's Beth's recommendation: Do yourself a favor and try out the following SMART ways to look at your path forward this year:
SUCCESS STORIES
Surround yourself with stories of where you want to go, and people you want to be like.
MOTIVATIONAL MINDSET
Perhaps most importantly, write your own success story in your head, on paper, or some other way.
AFFIRMATIONS
Think of yourself as the person you want to be. You aren't just trying to be that way - you ARE that way.
REFLECTION
Hit a bump in the road? That's because you are on the road! It's a great sign that you are learning to recognize growth potential. Admit, to yourself how far you have come.
TIME WELL-INVESTED
You are worth it. You, the one reading this. This time that ticks by when you work on betterment is an investment with boundless returns.
